A MAN has died after being hit by a train on a railway line in Derby.
British Transport Police and Derbyshire Police were called to Pear Tree station shortly after 3.15pm yesterday following reports that a man had been struck by a train.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
The man had been pronounced dead at the scene.
The train was reported to be the 14.04 service from Crewe to Derby.
The incident caused delays of up to 60 minutes to trains operating between Derby, Stoke-on-Trent and Burton.
However, trains through Derby began running normally at around 6.30pm.
An ambulance and three police cars were at the scene as well as Network Rail personnel. No further details are known.
