A woman whose car became stuck in traffic on the Washington Avenue railroad crossing Friday was able to escape before the vehicle was struck by a freight train.
Lt. Thomas Mosier said no one was injured in the accident. The woman’s 1998 Toyota Corolla was destroyed.
The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. and police closed Stelton Road at Washington Avenue, according to a community notification system.
Mosier said the road was scheduled to reopen at about 5:30 p.m. because the train was being moved.
